UPPAbaby New Cup Holder for Vista and Cruz

The most exciting stroller debut we saw at ABC Texas was the all new UPPAbaby Cruz stroller.  Our parents have been huge fans of the UPPAbaby Vista for years and it is one of our best sellers.  The folks at UPPAbaby decided to design a new stroller to follow on the success of the Vista.  Coming this summer is the UPPAbaby Cruz!  The Cruz delivers a compact stroller solution without compromising on the features of a full-size stroller.  It is suitable from birth through toddler years and will be $459.99.

The Cruz takes many of the great features of the Vista and trims it down for something more compact for parents.  The Cruz has a full sized reversible seat (the seat is the same size as the Vista seat) and has a one-handed five-position recline.  It has an easy one step fold with or without the seat attached.  Just like the Vista, it has a large canopy with UPPA’s signature extended spf 50 UV sunshade and is also compatible with an infant seat with the optional adapter bar.  Another great feature is that it has two canopy positions (the canopy can easily raise and lower) to accommodate taller children.  The Cruz also has a telescoping handlebar and is compatible from birth with the infant snugseat accessory.
It is different than the Vista because it is more compact: just over 21″ wide allows for easy maneuvering through doorways.  Also, there is no bassinet option and no second seat option like on the Vista.  It also has four smaller wheels which makes the stroller more compact.  The Cruz does have a suspension system in the wheels so it still will handle bumpy sidewalks better than other compact or umbrella strollers.  The Cruz is suitable up to 50 lbs.
The Cruz will be coming in four fashions: Denny (all red), Jake (all black), Sydney (yellow and gray), and Tyler (Ice Blue and Gray).  The Cruz is the perfect stroller for parents looking for a reversible seat stroller with many features but don’t need the bassinet.  We know the Cruz is going to be a big hit!
The other exciting stuff UPPA showed us in Texas were the new Stroller Blankies and redesigned cup holder.  The Stroller Blankies will come in three fashions, Basil (greens), Imagination (reds), and Raspberry (pinks) and are not your average stroller blanket.  Besides having a super soft minkie interior, the outside of the Blankie can be folded over the bumper bar has three little pouches on the outside to hold pacis, toys and snacks.  It is such an innovative product combining the function of a soft blanket with a stroller “snack tray” area.  And to make it better, it folds up completely into itself into a little pouch so you can throw it into the stroller basket.  Perfect!  The Stroller Blankies will be $39.99 and should be here early summer. The redesigned cup holder is also great news!  There is currently a cup holder available for the Vista but our parents seem to have a love-hate relationship with it.  The new cup holder is much more substational and it will have a clip for the Vista and the Cruz and will be $24.99 and available late summer. We are really looking forward to seeing the new products this summer.  Keep your eye on the website for preorder information soon!

Does anyone know the height of the telescoping handlebar? I’m only 4′ 10″, so a lot of handlebar heights are too tall for me!

Hi Paige- I just checked with UPPAbaby and the lowest height of the Cruz handlebar from the ground is 39.5 inches and the highest height of the handlebar from the ground is 41.5 inches. Please let me know if you have any other questions about the Cruz! Hope that helps- Erika

  2. Diana says:

Can you tell us more about the wheels on the Uppa Baby Cruz? How big are they? What are they made of? Thanks!

Hi Diana- They are made out of the same foam wheels as the Vista and they are 6″. If you have any other questions about the Cruz, let us know! Hope that helps! Erika

  3. Rachel says:

Does it have a snack tray or a bumper bar? Does the Stroller Blankie fit the Cruz? -thanks!

Hi Rachel- The Cruz does not have a snack tray or a bumper bar. You can definitely use the Stroller Blankie with the Cruz- you just can’t hang it over the bumper bar like on the Vista. We love the Stroller Blankie- I think it will be a great accessory for any stroller! Let us know if you have any other questions! Hope that helps- Erika

  4. Christi says:

I read in one place online that the Cruz will have a piggyback accessory like the Vista, anyone know if that is correct or not? Thanks!

Hi Christi- According to UPPAbaby, they hope to eventually have a Piggyback available for the Cruz but it is definitely still in the planning stages. There are no plans to bring in a Rumble Seat. Hope that helps- Erika

  5. Arty says:

    Hi,
Can the snack tray for the Vista attach to the cruz?

Also, how is the suspension on the wheels? Is there are noticeable difference in the ease of pushing, hitting bumps and cracks in the road between the Vista and the Cruz?

Will there by a Cruz travel bag that will carry the same travel guarantee as the Vista?

I love the vista (having seen it in stores) but the cruz just seems so much more appealing with it’s light weight – I just want to check whether or not it has the above features.

Hi Arty- Thanks for your post. There will not be a snack tray available for the Cruz and there are no plans for a TravelSafe Cruz travel bag as of now.

I only had a chance to play briefly with the Cruz at a trade show in May but it was a prototype. My impression is that the Vista will still do substantially better than the Cruz on bumpy terrain, mostly because the wheels are much larger.

Once we get one in real life, we will be able to do a better review! Hope that helps- Erika

  6. Rosanna says:

Do you know when it will be available for sale?

Hi Rosanna- Thanks for your post. We hope that the UPPAbaby Cruz will be available for presale sometime in late August/early September. Check back on the blog and we will post as soon as we have more information! Hope that helps- Erika

  7. Kristin says:

Do you know if the uppa baby vista attachments (seat, bassinet, car seat adapters) are compatible with the cruz? That is, could you use the cruz frame with the other attachments? Thanks!

Hi Kristin- The UPPAbaby Vista attachments will not be compatible with the Cruz. The frame is a different size and the attachments will not work. Hope that helps- Erika

  8. Diana says:

Hi – do you know if the overall height of the stroller? Is it the same as the Vista?

Hi Diana- Thanks for your post. The handlebar height of the Cruz at its lowest is 39.5″ and at its highest is 41.5″. The lowest height of the Vista handlebar is 39″ and the highest height of the Vista handlebar is 42″. Hope this helps- Erika

  9. Yoshi says:

Could you tell me if you know whether or not the footrest of the seat will be length adjustable to accomodate for growing legs?

Hi Yoshi- Thanks for your post. The footrest of the Cruz will be adjustable up and down like it is on the Vista. It can be moved up to provide added leg support for young babies. It will not able to adjust lengthwise but the canopy on the Cruz will be able to raise and lower to accommodate taller children. Hope that helps- Erika

  10. Fil says:

can you let me know if this new stroller will be available in Canada – when????

Hi Fil- Thanks for your email. I don’t have any information that the Cruz will be available in Canada. I would guess it won’t be available right away as it is launching in the U.S. Hope this helps- Erika

  11. Maria says:

    Hi,
I have a question about the height of the seat in the Cruz? Does it sit at the same height as Vista or is the seat lower on the frame? Thanks.

Hi Maria- Thanks for your post. The Vista seat sits approximately 1/2″ higher than the Cruz seat when compared side-by-side. Hope that helps- Erika

  12. Sarah says:

Do you know how much the Cruz will weigh and how much the frame without seat will weight? Also, do you know anything about the ‘one step fold’? Will it be similar to the Vista? And will it be self standing? Lastly, how will it be suitable for newborn when the vista is only 3 months and up. Thanks!

Also, for Fil I’m also in Canada and when i asked a local store who carries Uppa strollers they said probably next spring.

Hi Sarah- The Cruz with the seat on will weigh 20.5 lbs. and the Cruz frame will weigh 15 lbs. The fold of the Cruz is different than the fold on the Vista. It is not a one-hand fold. On the Cruz, there are two hand triggers found below the left and right side of the handlebar. By engaging the triggers simultaneously, the stroller folds incredibly easily. Both the Vista and the Cruz are suitable from birth with the use of the SnugSeat. Without the SnugSeat, UPPAbaby recommends both strollers from three months and up with the seat starting in the most reclined position and gradually re-positioning the seat more upright as the child is able to support his or her head without assistance. Finally, like all strollers in the UPPAbaby family, the Cruz is self-standing. Hope this helps- Erika

  13. UPPAdaddy says:

Hello, Do you know anything about the New UPPAbaby VISTA? New Frame Design? Maybe like the CRUZ?

    Thanks,
    UPPAdaddy

Hi there- We haven’t heard that there will be any changes to the 2012 Vista. Sorry that I don’t have any more information. Take care- Erika

  14. JuJu Sirak says:

How is the height difference on the Cruz vs. the Vista?? I was just about to buy a Vista when I saw about the Cruz. The one thing I am looking for is the high seating that the Vista has. For example, I hate bugaboos because they are so low! Please let me know. Thanks.

Hi JuJu- The VISTA seat sits approximately 1/2″ higher when compared side-by-side with the CRUZ. Hope that helps- Erika

  15. Briana says:

Just wanting to check as the description says it compatible from birth with snug seat accessory but presume this doesn’t lay completely flat?

Hi Brian- That is correct. The seat is a bucket seat that reclines but does not have a flat recline which is why it is not recommended from birth. It is suitable from birth with the snug seat accessory. Hope that helps- Erika

  16. Marissa says:

Hi, do you know what the measurements are for the seatback and the seat to canopy? Will this accommodate an older/taller child? Thanks.

Hi Marissa- The seat measurement is 20″. The canopy has two adjustments to accommodate taller children. At the lower setting, it is 22″ from from seat to top of canopy. At the higher setting, it is 24″ from seat to top of canopy. Hope that helps- Erika

  17. Sarah says:

Do you know if the Vista 2012 models will be out and whether the 2011 models will be on sale at that point?

Hi Sarah- Thanks for your post. We don’t expect the 2012 Vistas to be available until at least first or second quarter 2012. Hope that helps- Erika

  18. Elizabeth says:

How will the height (off the ground) of the Cruz compare to that of the Vista? (The Vista’s high seat is one of it’s most attractive attributes to me). Also – will the Cruz seat have the same nice interior quilting that the Vista has, or is it more pared down? When will the Cruz be available to ship? Thanks!

Hi Elizabeth- Thanks for your post. The Vista seat sits approximately 1/2″ higher when compared side-by-side with the Cruz. The cushion of the inside seat fabric of the Cruz is comparible to the Vista making for a comfy ride! We hope the Cruz will ship late September or early October. Keep an eye on the website for preorder information. Hope that helps- Erika

  19. Jenny says:

Do you know if the Cruz will come with a rain shield and a mesh shield? Also, is the Vista BabyGanoosh work for it? Thanks!

Hi Jenny- Thanks for your post. The rain shield and the mesh shields will be optional accessories. I’m not sure if the Baby Ganoosh will work with the Cruz yet until we can try it out. I would imagine that it would but we’ll know for sure once we get the Cruz in stock. Hope that helps- Erika

  20. shayna says:

Do you know if the cruz will be able to be closed while the seat is on facing inward? thankx

Hi Shayna- The Cruz cannot be folded with the seat facing inward (just like the Vista). Hope that helps- Erika

  21. Jessica says:

Any idea if what the new Vista Special Edition color for 2012 will be? My baby girl is due Nov. 2011 : ) I’m really hoping for a pink color!

Hi Jessica- We haven’t heard if there is going to be a new 2012 Vista Special Edition. If there is, it would probably not be released until first or second quarter 2012. Hope that helps- Erika

  22. Elena says:

Do you know if in order to get new 2012 extended canopy for my 2011 Vista i will need to buy all 2012 seat set (with seat frame and fabric, canopy frame and fabric) or just canopy frame without fabric will be enough?
    Thank you!
